About Building Synergies, LLC

The Building Synergies Approach

What is in a name? Encarta Dictionary defines synergy as the “combined effort being greater than the parts.” That one statement describes us well: We look for synergies within your building projects – ways to improve your project’s sustainability and your project’s balance sheet – combining the best of engineering and management consulting practices to your advantage!

We make improving your project’s economics our business

We differ from traditional engineering firms in that our analysts have both engineering and management consulting experience. Consequently, when we look for sustainability possibilities, we look for those that improve your bottom line. Our goal for your project is simple: Financially Responsible Sustainability™.

We provide objective, useful information

How often do you have consultants provide you with a stack of reports that, while most likely filled with good data, are of little value because the information in them is so difficult to access?

At Building Synergies, we strive to provide objective and easy to access project information -- information and recommendations that are straightforward to understand and implement -- information that you can use to both reduce your project's environmental impact and improve your project's bottom line!

Additionally, we work diligently to avoid potential conflicts of interest. Consequently, you won't find Building Synergies doing both the energy analysis and mechanical design on the same project. It is not that we don't like the idea of doing both; it's just that a properly conducted energy analysis will heavily influence the mechanical contract, and we don't want to be tempted.

A recent University of San Diego research report found that “green” buildings:

Observed higher rental rates by almost $2 per square foot net in the second quarter of 2007 and $2.65 in the third quarter of 2007

Commanded sales prices of 30% more on average ($353/ft2 vs. $270/ft2)

Have higher occupancy rates and lower operating expenses
